Some of you may have seen a debate taking place on Twitter recently about just how much time has passed in the Castle world.

Castle first went to air on Monday March 9, 2009 which means the show has been airing for just over 3 years. However in a recent episode Lanie refers to Castle and Beckett having known each other for 4 years. Given the fact that we know the show follows a fairly “real time” time line (based on topical references in the show, Halloween, Valentines Day as well as the book releases coinciding with release dates in the real world) we have to assume that Lanie simply made a mistake or just meant that they’re now into their 4th year of knowing each other!

All that said … to confuse matters more, April marks the 4 year anniversary of our website CastleTV.net! This may seem a little odd but the website was in fact established almost a year before the show went to air – even before the original pilot episode had been filmed. How that came to be is a long story for another day but to sum up, basically, we wanted to do everything we could to get fans supporting and promoting Castle well before the show got to air in hopes it would reduce its chances of getting canceled before being given a chance to find an audience.
